Massive Police Raid Shuts Down Over 30 Illegal Brothels in Germany
A large police operation in eastern Germany has led to the closure of more than 30 illegal prostitution sites. Authorities say the raid uncovered signs of human smuggling and illegal sex work across multiple locations.
The operation took place in the state of Saxony-Anhalt and involved hundreds of officers working together to investigate organized crime networks.
Hundreds of Officers Search Dozens of Locations
Around 500 police officers took part in the coordinated raids. Investigators searched a total of 39 properties, where they found people engaged in prostitution in nearly every location.
Officials confirmed that over 30 of these sites were operating illegally and were immediately shut down.
During the searches, police also collected large amounts of evidence. This included mobile phones, laptops, rental agreements, and other documents that may help uncover the structure of the network behind the operations.
Illegal Workers and High-Value Items Discovered
Authorities identified at least 16 individuals who were staying in Germany without valid residence permits. According to reports, many of them came from countries such as Thailand, Colombia, and China.
Police also seized significant assets during the raids. These included:
- Cash amounts in the tens of thousands of euros
- Luxury watches and jewelry
- Designer handbags
Investigators believe these items may be linked to illegal earnings from prostitution activities.
Suspected Human Smuggling Network Targeted
The investigation is focused on a group of suspects aged between 27 and 40. Among them are several German nationals and at least one person of Asian origin.
Authorities suspect that the group organized the illegal transport of women, mainly from Asia, into Germany. Once in the country, the women were allegedly forced to work in prostitution.
According to investigators, many of the women had to repay large sums of money demanded for their transport. This often left them trapped in exploitative conditions.

Investigation Still Ongoing
Police say the operation is only the beginning of a larger investigation. The evidence collected during the raids will now be analyzed to identify more suspects and understand the full scale of the network.
Officials have not ruled out further arrests or additional raids in the coming weeks.
The case highlights ongoing concerns about human trafficking and illegal prostitution in Germany, as authorities continue to target organized criminal groups operating across borders.
